William Knight to present Design Guild Mark awards
We are pleased to announce that William Knight, show director of Clerkenwell Design Week, will present the Design Guild Mark Awards at the Goldsmiths’ Centre on 26 May.
The Design Guild Mark Awards, now in its ninth year, promotes excellence and raises the profile of British design and innovation.
They recognise and reward designers working in Britain or British Designers working abroad. The award demands the highest standards in the design of furniture for volume production.
The Design Guild Mark is judged by a panel of leading industry professionals. Each member of the panel is from the furniture, hospitality, commercial, retail or media industry. Judges must ensure that each piece of furniture meets the criteria of: excellence in design, materials, manufacture and function.
Chaired by Alexander Gifford, this year’s judging panel were: Simon Alderson, twentytwentyone; Jeremy Myerson, Royal College of Art; Joanna Biggs, GA Design; Philippa Prinsloo, John Lewis; Barbara Chandler, Evening Standard; Pernille Stafford, Resonate Interiors; Sebastian Conran, Sebastian Conran Associates; Paul Tanner, Marks & Spencer Furniture; and Diana Monkhouse, SpaceInvader.
William said: “It’s been an honour to work with the Design Guild Mark team over the last four years to promote this brilliant initiative that celebrates the best in British furniture design. To be able to present the awards themselves at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week is a great privilege and I very much look forward to the upcoming event.”
