Obituary – Liveryman Anthony Fortescue
It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Anthony who died on Monday 9 November at his estate.
May we offer our sincere condolences to his wife Elizabeth, daughters Clare and Sarah, and all his family, friends and colleagues from over the years.
Anthony joined The Furniture Makers’ Company as a Freeman in 1998, and was clothed as a Liveryman later that year. He gave generously in supporting the purchase of Furniture Makers’ Hall, was a champion of our aims and objectives, and demonstrated his keen support by attending numerous events over the years.
Anthony was the High Sheriff of Cornwall and had spent many years rebuilding his family estate, Boconnoc, returning it to its former glory and developing it as an award winning event venue.
This followed a successful career in the furniture industry that began in the 1970s, when Anthony designed and built his own products under his own brand, The Anthony Fortescue Collection of English Furniture.
