The new North Shields store team

Corporate Member Axminster Tools & Machinery’s new store opens in North Shields today!

The new store is situated at Coast Road Retail Park on Norham Road, close to the landmark Tesco chimney and will be the seventh store for the company.

Events to celebrate the opening of the store will take place on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March. There will be lots of exclusive offers over the two days and on each day the first 200 customers will receive a goody bag. Demonstrators from some of the other Axminster stores will be there in support and displaying their various skills. These include internationally recognised woodturner Jason Breach and experienced engineering tutor Bob Rolph.

With 10,000 square feet of retail space, the North Shields store will be open seven days a week, including bank holidays, in line with most other retail outlets in the area, recognising that many customers, due to their own work/life commitments, find it more convenient to shop on a Sunday. The store will stock an impressive number of product lines including all of the most popular brands, plus it will be possible to order in store anything from the full range of the Axminster Tools & Machinery catalogue.

Retail Development Director Darran McLeod said: “The new store will be the same size as the majority of our other branches and it will have some of the new concepts we introduced into the Basingstoke store (AT&M’s most recent store).  The store allows us to have approximately 10,500 lines on display and available in stock as well as some other features such as the Live Workshop, so customers can get hands-on with a wide selection of our tools and machinery. Although a new store, it will still maintain the Axminster ethos of offering high quality advice and customer service.”

Founded in 1972, Axminster Tools & Machinery is one of the UK’s largest retailers of woodworking and engineering tools, machinery, accessories and consumables, visit their website for more information.
