Work and business opportunity for skilled craftsman
Since 1958 Geoffrey Parker Games has been making the world’s finest board games, by hand in its workshops based in north west Essex. In the past the company worked mainly in beautiful leathers but is now increasingly using fine woods and veneers.
The company is aiming to bring the production of its multi-game tables and other wooden items in house. This is exacting work and a knowledge of fine furniture twinned with marquetry is required.
It is an unusual opportunity as production is only just beginning to increase this area, so the position is ideal for someone making their own items for customers but who would like the security of a guaranteed few days a week working for Geoffrey Parker Games.
There is also an opportunity for the person to develop their own business as the company can provide a workshop and machinery for you to use, which may be beneficial to both parties.
As Max Parker says: “Either the person will outgrow us or our work will increase and they may work for us more than for themselves – who knows but it would be fun finding out!”
If this seems an interesting opportunity, please email Max and also take a view of the company’s video to understand more about what it does.
Geoffrey Parker Games is also exhibiting this precise work at Decorex in Syon Park, London from 20-23 September, stand K17, and it also welcomes visitors to its workshops in Essex to discuss things in more details.
As Max says: “We are very flexible and happy to discuss all manner of ways our goals can be achieved. A full time employed position is not impossible if the person is flexible in what they do while we grow the company.”
