The Homefit Charity Golf Day rallies support from the furnishing industry’s most prestigious suppliers.
Corporate Liveryman Billy Quinn, Director of Installations & Services at Corporate Member B&Q, is one of our most active supporters so it came as no surprise when he and his team generously offered to organise a Homefit Charity Golf Event to raise funds for The Furniture Makers’ Company.
We were thrilled and delighted to discover that on the day a staggering £33,000 was raised for our charity, which breaks our record for a sum raised during a fundraising single event.
The day was held at the John O’Gaunt Golf Club in Sandy, Bedfordshire, one of the best 18-hole courses in central England.
Twenty teams of three were each joined by a member of Homefit for a full day’s play, starting early with breakfast and rounding off with a late lunch and presentations.
Many Homefit contractors and suppliers were involved in the day and the main sponsors of the event were:
- NIC EIC
- Blue Crush Communications
- Greenworld Innovation
- Evander
- Focal Point Fires
- Chimera Insurance
- iKBBI
- DRMJ Consulting
Billy Quinn said: “It is a great privilege to be able to raise funds for our industry charity which does wonderful work to support the furnishing industry and the people who are a part of it.
“I would like to add a huge thank you to the many sponsors and excellent companies who supported this event and made it a great success. It was a really great day and I hope it will inspire more companies from our industry to get involved and give something back to help people when times are tough and to support the next generation of furniture makers.”
In addition to rallying support from the furnishing industry’s most prestigious suppliers, B&Q Homefit also leads by example as founding sponsor of The Furniture Makers’ Company national School Design Prize programme.
Jonny Westbrooke, Clerk of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “We are tremendously grateful to Billy and the team at Homefit for their generosity and enthusiasm in supporting their industry charity.
“Their support has enabled us to establish our national School Design Prize programme which now rewards hard work and excellence by giving prizes to over 900 school children across the UK each year.
“B&Q has also raised the bar as fundraisers – this golf event has been one of the most successful fundraising event to date and will make a huge difference to our charity. I look forward to continuing to work with B&Q as valued corporate partners and I hope that their efforts will serve as an inspiring example to others.”
