Sealy Cup football tournament scores high!
Powerleague Wembley was the venue for a stunning day of five-a-side football. Seven teams of seven battled it out, representing furnishing companies such as Lebus Upholstery, Hypnos, Homefit, bycharlesandcharles, RHG, Celtheath and Cabinet Maker Magazine.
The competing teams each played an eight-minute game against each other, with the four highest point scorers going through to the semi finals. Homefit won the tournament, beating bycharlesandcharles in the final. Paul Oldham of bycharlesandcharles was awarded Man of the Tournament by the referees.
Sealy UK provided The Vintage Clarets, ex-professional team of 10 retired players from Burnley FC, to participate in the event. Each team played an eight-minute game against The Vintage Clarets, and the winners of the tournament then played the ex-professionals again.
The event ended with a barbecue and presentation of the trophies by Holly Venning, Brand Marketing Manager for Sealy UK.
Cabinet Maker donated two engraved glass trophies: one bearing The Furniture Makers’ Company crest for presentation to The Vintage Clarets, to thank them for their participation at this event, presented by Clerk and Chief Executive Jonny Westbrooke. The second trophy was The Sealy Cup, presented to the winning team.
“You could clearly see that everyone was putting a lot of effort into the games and having a great time as a result,” said Jonny Westbrooke. “It is really heartening so see so many people from our industry coming together to help us raise vital funds for our charity and we are very grateful for everyone’s generosity.”
All the participants displayed fantastic team spirit and enjoyed a great day’s play, which raised £3,000 for our charity, helping us to help more people in our industry.
