Hypnos honoured for commitment to sustainability
The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, is delighted to announce that Hypnos has received its prestigious Sustainability Award 2015.
The panel of judges, chaired by Paul von der Heyde, the Master of the Company, were David Walton, Chairman of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme Steering Committee; and Alan Marshall, Liveryman and environmental advisor. Phil Reynolds of FIRA organised the award and FIRA’s Environmental Consultant James Bell assisted and advised the judges.
The judges were impressed at how Hypnos had clearly embedded sustainability at the core of its operations and had reviewed all aspects of its business in order to implement a strong strategy toward managing and improving its environmental performance.
The Master Paul von der Heyde said: “Hypnos is highly deserving of this distinction as it was impressive in every category. Having been highly commended in last year’s awards the company has clearly continued its determined focus on sustainability in all areas.”
Phil Reynolds said: “The standard of entries for the Sustainability Award this year was very high. The judges had a tough decision to make and want to commend all the entrants for their ongoing commitment to sustainability.
“In the end however, the judges were unanimous in their selection of Hypnos as the company was clearly able to demonstrate its achievements in improving its sustainability performance and show that an ethos of sustainability was embedded in the business.”
Group Managing Director Stephen Ward said: “We are now the current holders of two prestigious industry awards, as this win follows the NBF Bed Manufacturer of the Year award in September, which shows that our strategy and performance is now being recognised by the industry. This is all very encouraging for our team, and will keep us energised and dedicated to driving innovation and sustainability within the industry for even more years to come.”
This year’s runners-up were bedding manufacturer Relyon and contract furniture dealer JPA, both highly commended by the judges and encouraged to enter the awards again next year
